NSERC Program in Food Safety, Nutrition and Regulatory Affairs

The Canadian food system is dynamic and relies on coordination across different sectors in order to provide consumers with healthy, safe and palatable year-round access to foods. As a result, understanding and communicating changes in Government policy and advances in food science and nutrition research is vital in order to provide a safe and sustainable food supply. The Natural Sciences and Engineering Research Council of Canada (NSERC) University-Industry Program in Food Safety, Nutrition and Regulatory Affairs (PFSNRA) serves as a conduit for collaborations, research and information transfer that benefits all sectors of the Canadian food system.

What are the Mission, Goals and Objectives of the NSERC-PFSNRA?
The mission of NSERC-PFSNRA is to assist the food system by providing scientific expertise needed to address current food safety, nutrition and regulatory issues affecting Canadian consumers.

What do we do?
The NSERC-PFSNRA addresses a wide variety of food safety and nutrition issues through meetings, workshops, reports and research. We aim to do so through an integrated approach across different sectors in the agri-food system.
