Celebrating 125 Years of Nutritional Sciences at U of T

The Department of Nutritional Sciences is proud to be celebrating 125 years of nutritional sciences education at the University of Toronto this year. Teaching of nutritional sciences at the University of Toronto began in 1896 with the Lillian Massey School of Domestic Science and Art. The School subsequently became the Department of Household Science in 1902, the Faculty of Household Science in 1906, the Faculty of Food Sciences in 1962, the Department of Nutrition and Food Science (within the Faculty of Medicine) in 1975 and, finally, the Department of Nutritional Sciences in 1980.
