Sarah (Hayun) Jeong receives the CNS George Beaton Award for Student Work in Public Health Nutrition!
Sarah (Hayun) Jeong, a PhD student in Dr. Mary L'Abbe's lab received the George Beaton Award for Student Work in Public Health Nutrition at the Canadian Nutrition Society Annual Conference, 2024. Sarah's work focuses on facilitating healthy food choices outside the home in Canada and evaluating nutrient profile models for menu labelling. She is also leading the lab’s restaurant menu database, Menu-FLIP, and will be working on the new 2024 collection. Sarah is also the recipient of the Feeding Kids Nourishing Minds School-based nutrition graduate award in which she is developing an audit tool that comprehensively captures the Canadian school food environment. She is also pursuing a Collaborative Specialization in Public Health Policy at the Dalla Lana School of Public Health. Her other research interests include informing the monitoring of Canada’s restricting marketing-to-kids policy and comparatively analyzing school meal programs in the West and the East to identify best practices. Sarah completed her HBsc with a double major in Nutritional Sciences and Psychology, along with a minor in Immunology at U of T.
