DNS Research Day and Edna Park Lecture 2025
The inaugural Department of Nutritional Sciences Research Day is scheduled for Thursday, November 20, 2025, from 9:30 AM to 7:30PM ET at the Chestnut Conference Centre. This full-day event will showcase trainee research and feature invited speakers, including our keynote speaker Krista Lamb. A writer, communications professional, and podcast producer and host, she specializes in translating complex medical, scientific, and health-related topics into engaging and accessible stories across various media platforms. Our annual Department of Nutritional Sciences Alumni Association (DNSAA) Edna Park Lecture will be the marquee closing event of the Research Day, featuring Dr. Catherine Field, Professor at University of Alberta. She is a Registered Dietitian who began her academic career at the University of Alberta in 1991. Her research program focuses on the effect of nutrition on the development of the immune system and the role of specific fatty acids in the treatment of breast cancer. She holds a CRC Tier 1 Chair in Human Nutrition and Metabolism and is a Fellow of the Canadian Academy of Health Sciences and the Canadian Nutrition Society. She has published over 290 peer-reviewed articles and has been invited to deliver keynote lectures more than 210 times around the world.
