Dr. Joanna Baxter from the O' Connor Lab Publish Groundbreaking Study on Maternal Micronutrient Supplementation in Rural Pakistan

Publications

Dr. Joanna Baxter, postdoctoral fellow from the O'Connor Lab, led by Dr. Deborah O'Connor, Chair of the Department of Nutritional Sciences, has published a pivotal study in the American Journal of Clinical Nutrition. Their research investigates the effects of maternal multiple micronutrient supplementation on maternal and infant health outcomes in rural Pakistan.

The study, titled "Maternal multiple micronutrient supplementation in rural Pakistan," explores the impact of supplementing pregnant women with a combination of essential micronutrients. The findings suggest that such supplementation can significantly improve maternal nutritional status and birth outcomes, providing valuable insights for maternal health interventions in resource-limited settings.

Dr. O'Connor's lab, renowned for its research in maternal and infant nutrition, collaborated with local health authorities in Pakistan to conduct this study. The research emphasizes the importance of accessible and effective nutritional interventions to address maternal and infant health challenges in rural communities. This publication underscores the O'Connor Lab's commitment to advancing global health through evidence-based research and international collaboration.
