Undergraduate Summer Research

1. Students must secure supervision with one of the below listed Nutritional Sciences faculty members ahead of submitting their application to the department. We encourage students to contact prospective supervisors to formally introduce themselves and indicate their interest in the faculty member's research.

2. Students must have successfully completed a term in a full-time undergraduate program directly prior to the award period

3. Students should have a minimum B+ average (3.3 GPA) or higher in the two terms of undergraduate studies immediately preceding acceptance of the award. 

4. Students who have completed their undergraduate program are not eligible, unless (1) they have been accepted into or are currently enrolled in an undergraduate professional program (e.g., medical undergraduate degree program), or (2) they have been accepted into a graduate program which they have not yet begun.

5. University of Toronto and non-University of Toronto students may apply.

6. A student may be a Canadian citizen, permanent resident of Canada, or foreign student with valid student visa for the full summer work term.

7. A student may submit only one application to this UROP program. Departure from this rule will result in the application being accorded a lower priority or even denied.

8. Students cannot hold another summer research award concurrently with a UROP award.

  • 14 to 16-weeks

• Both students and supervisors will use the central Temerty Faculty of Medicine Summer Research Awards Management System (SumRAMS) for the above mentioned awards.

• One application will allow you to be considered for all the awards for which you and your supervisor are eligible
• NOTE: Please remind your supervisor that they, too, will have to complete the second part of the application form once you've submitted your portion
